Bonus Game - A secondary event in a slot machine game that
permits the player to win additional money through an activity other than the
spinning of reels.
Buy-A-Feature - A slot machine that includes a bonus feature
that is applicable only when multiple coins are wagered.
Buy-A-Pay - A slot machine with a pay schedule that includes
winning combinations that only apply when multiple coins are wagered.
Cashback - A rebate awarded by a casino to members of its slot
club for reaching certain (predetermined) thresholds of play.
Coin-Free Play - Slot machine play that involves using printed
tickets or multicredit tokens instead of coins.
Hit Frequency - The frequency with which a slot machine registers
a winning combination relative to the number of games played.
Hold & Respin Game - A slot machine that permits the player
to hold the results of one or more reels and spin the remaining reels a 2nd
time in an attempt to improve the result.
Linked Progressive Jackpot - A jackpot that grows in increments
of a percentage of coins that are wagered on two or more slot machines.
Multicoin Slot Game - A slot that allows wagers of two or more
coins for each payline in a multiline game.
Multiline Slot Game - Any slot machine game (reel spinning
or video) that has two or more paylines on which jackpot symbols form winning
combinations.
Multiplier - A slot machine with a pay schedule where the pay
schedule for each winning combination is multiplied evenly by each coin wagered.
Multisite Progressive - also called a wide area progressive.
This is a slot machine that is linked electronically to a network of slot machines
of the same game at different casinos, with coins wagered on all connected machines
going toward a single jackpot.
Payline - The line of reel positions on which symbols must
land to form winning combinations.
Pay Schedule - also called the pay table. This is a listing
that is usually found on the face (or video screen) of a slot machine that details
the amounts paid for each winning combination.
Progressive Jackpot - a jackpot which increments electronically
with a preset percentage of each coin wagered.
Scatter Pay - A winning combination in which the individual
jackpot symbols are not required to line up on a single payline.
Second Screen Bonus - a bonus game in a multiline video slot
in which the reels disappear and a new scene/screen is presented to the player
for the bonus round.
Slot Club - also called a players club. It's a promotional
club that uses player identification cards to electronically track the amount
of money wagered by each member, for the purpose of rewarding loyal players
through cash rebates, complimentary meals, services and special members-only
events.
Slot Tournament - a special event in which players compete
for preset cash prizes on specially programmed slot machines, receiving points
for accumulated credits.
Volatility - the ratio of size versus frequency of jackpots
in a slot game.
